This position will initially report to the Asset Manager overseeing two student housing projects in Charleston, SC and will collaborate closely with the Asset Management team and the housing property management firm, Asset Campus Property Management to effectively promote these assets. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for the Marketing, Public Relations and Business Development initiatives in Charleston South Carolina and the surrounding areas to increase visibility and broaden the awareness of Armada Hoffler in the public eye.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications program that will enhance Armada Hoffler’s overall image and presence within the marketplace and general public. 
  • Develop budgets for the marketing/communications/public relations program and its activities. 
  • Develop new and strengthen existing relationships with area businesses, vendors and individuals with the College of Charleston. 
  • Identify potential clients utilizing market and demographic data as well as industry knowledge. 
  • Keep abreast of relevant industry topics to incorporate them into planning and decision-making. 
  • Identify marketing needs of specific communities or areas to facilitate the development and implementation of marketing plans to accomplish objectives. 
  • Seek out and utilize available internal and external resources to meet goals and objectives. 
  • Project a favorable image of the student housing community to achieve property objectives and public recognition. 
  • Regularly monitor student resident satisfaction in person and through follow-up phone calls and utilizing Customer Satisfaction Surveys. 
  • Place client and resident needs, requests, and follow-up as a number one priority. 
  • Communicate regularly with Asset Campus’ Regional Vice President, Regional Supervisors, and Community Managers regarding goals, objectives, and relevant concerns, problems, and solutions. 
  • Assist with the design of advertisements for periodicals, direct mailers, follow up letters, telemarketing campaigns, social media and in-house programs targeting potential student residents and Company market niches. 
  • Generate traffic of prospective residents and clients by utilizing advertisements for periodicals, direct mailers, follow up letters, telemarketing campaigns, in-house programs, etc. 
  • Adhere to standards and comply with government laws on Fair Housing, and all inspections of the facility. 
  • Regularly complete market surveys, including university and local marketing conditions. 
  • Perform after hours duties as needed (i.e., attend student functions, PR events, etc.) 
  • In collaboration with appropriate managers, coordinate events such as ground breakings, ribbon cuttings, grand openings, etc. 
  • Along with other managers, determine event budgets and manage expenses to that budget. 
  • Occasional out-of-town, over-night travel is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years’ experience in marketing, public relations and/or business development preferred 
  • A. or B.S. Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Business or a related field. 
  • Strong strategic, analytical, organizational and relationship-building experience. 
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and relationship-building experience. 
  • Proficiency with MS Office software products. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Prior experience in large student organizations a plus

The successful candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug screens, credit check and background check.
